Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, a 29 year-old man, driving a Chrysler Sebring, sustained serious head injuries when his car crashed into a tree off Cady Street in Ludlow, MA.
According to Ludlow Police Sgt. Joseph Metcalfe, the driver, whose name was not released, was transported by ambulance to the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA for emergency room treatment.
Metcalfe indicated that the Chrysler Sebring was traveling at a high rate of speed when it went off the road near Grimes Street and hit a tree. The car accident closed down Cady Street for about four hours while authorities investigated and cleared the auto crash site.
Metcalfe is unsure whether the wet roads played a role in the crash but said that speed was definitely a factor.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the driver involved in the crash was “clinging to life” after suffering serious blunt force trauma head injuries.
