This past Wednesday, March 5, 2014, a single-vehicle car accident took place on the westbound California Highway 50 near the 26th Street off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver died at the scene of the auto crash.
At approximately, 6:22 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received an emergency dispatch that a driver rode into a concrete object on Highway 50. At the scene, the state police discovered a 45 year-old man behind the wheel of a smashed Nissan 350z, which had gone off the road, entered an embankment and crashed into a concrete bridge pillar. The car accident left the two-seat sports car smashed into a cube.
The emergency medical responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene of the auto accident. No other individuals were hurt as a result of the motor vehicle accident. The police stated that speed was likely a factor in the car crash and that they had no reason to believe that other vehicles were involved in the car accident. The police are continuing to investigate.
