Tragedy struck two days prior to this year’s Father’s Day for a father and son. An Iowa family is now mourning the loss of a father and his young son, who both died after their motorcycle collided with a sedan in a tragic motor vehicle accident.
On the afternoon of Friday, June 14th, a motorcycle-car accident claimed the lives of a father and son from Geneso, Iowa. 39 year-old Scott Teerlink and his 10 year-old son, Luke, were riding Teerlink’s motorcycle in Colona, Illinois at around 2:00 p.m. At that time, a Buick sedan made a speedy turn in front of the motorcycle, causing a collision with Teerlink and his son.
Emergency paramedics pronounced Teerlink dead at the scene of the motor vehicle accident. His son, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was airlifted to a hospital in Peoria. Despite the best efforts of his doctors, Luke passed away from his personal injuries the next day.
Luke’s obituary says that even after his wrongful death, the child gave back by being an organ donor. The driver of the Buick has been cited for an improper turn only, but may be charged later as police further investigate the tragic motorcycle-car crash.
