In Rhode Island, a 4:00 pm car crash last Friday claimed the life of a pregnant woman, but her child has survived. 23 year-old Sullynette Sanchez, a resident of Providence, was 9 months pregnant when she was involved in the 3-car crash.
Sanchez was transported to the Kent Hospital emergency room and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. But the baby was born prematurely. The baby was then brought to Women & Infants Hospital in stable condition and breathing on its own.
Police are still investigating the motor vehicle accident, but they believe that a driver may have rear-ended Sanchez when she slowed her car down. Apparently the other driver was distracted after his wallet fell on the ground.
