Daniel Dodge, 43, a pedestrian, was struck on West Main Street in Ayer, MA late Friday afternoon by a car being driven by a 20 year-old Ayer woman. Dodge remains in critical condition at a Boston hospital at this time.
Ayer Police Lt. Brian Gill indicated that the driver’s name is not being released at this time, and that the car accident remains under investigation.
The car, traveling westbound as it passed by the front of a pizza shop at 60 West Main Street, struck Dodge as he was crossing West Main Street shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday.
Dodge was transported by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer Friday night, and he was then airlifted to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. According to Gill, Dodge was listed in critical condition. The hospital would not release updated information Monday night.
Corey Buxton was struck in the same area on January 4, 2012 by two passing automobiles when he chased after two Ayer teens who allegedly robbed him of money to buy drugs. Buxton died less than a week after turning 15.
